Suprasorb X PHMB is a unique, moist wound dressing for critically colonised and infected wounds.

  • Suprasorb X PHMB reduces wound pain during treatment.
  • It has a cooling, soothing effect. PHMB kills bacteria fast, reducing pain.
  • Suprasorb X PHMB rapidly kills multi resistant pathogens including MRSA and VRE.
  • PHMB interferes with the micro-organism's metabolism.
  • Suprasorb X PHMB effectively kills the bacteria without damaging surrounding healthy cells.
  • While silver dressings are a traditional treatment for infected wounds, with longer term use there has been shown to be a risk of adaption by bacteria which theoretically could weaken their effect. There is a lower risk of adaptation and lower risk of resistance with Suprasorb X PHMB.
  • Using ‘HydroBalance’ technology, Suprasorb X PHMB donates or absorbs moisture as required, keeping the surface of the wound at the optimum moisture level for healing.

Suprasorb X PHMB is available in a range of dressing sizes and also as a rope for the management of cavity wounds.

Your nurse or doctor has prescribed Suprasorb X+PHMB because your wound is infected, or they feel it might be at risk of becoming infected.

The dressing should feel cool and soothing when it is applied. It contains PHMB which is a very safe and effective antimicrobial, which means it kills the microorganisms (germs), in the wound but will not damage healthy skin.

PHMB has been used routinely in our everyday lives for over 50 years in items such as contact lens solutions and cosmetics.

Contact your doctor or nurse if you feel your wound is getting worse. For example if it is producing more fluid, feels more painful or the surrounding skin hurts and feels hot.

Suprasorb X PHMB is an antimicrobial dressing for critically colonised and infected wounds. The dressing is able to absorb and release moisture (hydrobalance), providing the optimum, moist wound healing environment. It can reduce pain during treatment and cools and soothes the surrounding skin. It contains 4% cellulose, 96% water and 0.3% PHMB.

Suprasorb X PHMB requires a secondary dressing such as Solvaline N. Film dressings are usually not recommended on critically colonised or infected wounds.
