Indicated for moderate to heavily exuding, superficial and deep wounds in the exudation and granulation phase, e.g. pressure ulcers, leg ulcers of various origins (venous/arterial), diabetic foot ulcers, skin donor and skin grafting sites, postoperative wounds, partial thickness burns.
1. Surplus exudate from the wound is absorbed by the dressing
2. Formation of gel through ion exchange
Suprasorb A has the absorptive capacity to cope with moderate to heavily exuding wounds, as well as creating the optimum wound environment through the natural cleansing effect of alginate.
The exchange of calcium ions from the wound dressing with the sodium ions from the wound exudate leads to formation of a gel. The gel binds exudate and encloses bacteria, which can be irrigated safely away by using normal saline at each dressing change.
Suprasorb A is available as a flat sheet and as a rope dressing which can be used in cavities and sinus wounds, as well as other deep and superficial wounds.
The dressing is not suitable for dry wound conditions or for full thickness burns. Do not use in the case of a known sensitivity to any components.
